Start with the exact registration number
Read the number from the RC rather than a small photo of the plate. Characters such as O and 0, I and 1, or B and 8 are easy to confuse. Enter the state letters, registering-office digits, series and final number together. You can keep spaces; the search cleans them up.
Our current search supports the usual state-code registration format, such as HR26DK8337. Special formats, including BH-series and temporary registrations, may need the official service. A rejected format and a record that was not found are different problems.
- Compare every character with the RC.
- Remove words such as IND and any decorative text.
- Keep the complete number rather than only the final four digits.
- Use the official route for a format the form does not accept.
Read the message before trying again
| Message or result | Next step |
|---|---|
| Invalid vehicle number | Correct the format or check whether it is a special registration. |
| Security check failed | Allow the security script and retry; an unchecked request will not run. |
| Too many searches | Wait for the displayed retry period. |
| Service unavailable | Try again later or check through the official service. |
| Missing insurance or PUC field | Check the current document; a blank field is not an expiry finding. |
Avoid treating missing data as a finding
The report only reflects what the connected source returned. It cannot tell you why every missing field is absent. An older record, recent change or incomplete provider response can produce an incomplete report, but those are possibilities rather than a diagnosis of your vehicle.
If a second attempt gives the same result, stop repeated searches and collect the registration number, the message and the time of the check. When contacting support, describe the missing field without sending passwords, OTPs or identity documents.
Confirm important details through Parivahan or your RTO
Use Parivahan’s current vehicle services or contact the registering authority for an official record or correction. Keep your RC and any application reference available. The authority’s instructions determine what information and verification are required.
When buying a vehicle, an unavailable lookup is a reason to request better documentation, not a reason to assume that the seller’s account is correct or incorrect.
Questions about this check
Does no result mean the vehicle is unregistered?
No. The lookup may not have returned a usable record. Confirm registration through the official service or registering authority.
Why is the model image different?
Images are matched by a separate provider and may be representative. Compare the text fields and documents rather than using the image as evidence.
Can support change my RC record?
Vehicle Details cannot edit registration records. Official corrections belong with the relevant registering authority.
