How to check car or bike details by number
Open RC Details and enter the complete registration number from the number plate or certificate. Spaces and lowercase letters are accepted. Choose Check RC information and let the security check finish. The report groups registration, vehicle and document information so you can compare the fields without switching between screens.
A car number and a bike number use the same lookup. Record coverage depends on the connected provider; a failed request is not proof that a vehicle is unregistered.
- Match the registration number first.
- Compare the make, model, fuel type and vehicle class.
- Read the registering authority and registration date.
- Check the available ownership, financier and document fields.
Ownership information is only one part of the record
Vehicle Details displays the fields returned by its provider. It does not fill missing names with guesses, reconstruct masked information or certify that a seller owns the vehicle. A model image is a visual aid and may show a representative version rather than the exact trim or colour.
| Field | What to check |
|---|---|
| Owner information | Compare what is displayed with the current RC; the name may be masked or withheld. |
| Financier | Ask whether an old loan entry has been cleared if the seller says the loan is closed. |
| Vehicle specifications | Confirm the record describes the vehicle you are inspecting. |
| Registration status | Read it alongside validity dates and your current documents. |
Why an owner’s name can be hidden
A result marked Not disclosed means that field was not available for display. It does not mean the vehicle has no registered owner. A partly hidden name is also not enough to identify a person with confidence.
If you are buying the vehicle, ask the seller to show the original or official digital RC and compare it with their identity through the normal transaction process. For an accident, obstruction or suspected offence, use the police or relevant authority rather than trying to trace someone’s private contact details from a plate.
When to use the official registration service
Parivahan is the government service for vehicle registration information and related transactions. Use its current instructions for official records, applications and corrections. Vehicle Details is an independent lookup service and cannot change the registered owner or issue an RC.
A useful comparison is to place your report beside the certificate and mark each field as matching, unclear or different. Follow up on differences before relying on the report for a purchase.
Questions about this check
Can I find a vehicle owner’s phone number?
Vehicle Details does not offer a phone-number tracing service. An RC lookup only displays the available fields returned by the provider.
Does the RC report prove a used car is safe to buy?
No. It is a preliminary records check. Inspect the vehicle, compare the seller’s documents and complete the required official ownership-transfer process.
Can I search a two-wheeler?
Yes. Enter the complete bike or scooter registration number. The returned information depends on provider coverage.
